  • ¼  teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 1-2 tablespoons sugar

  • 3 tablespoons butter

  • 4 eggs

  • ¼ cup milk

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt

  • 8 slices challah, cut crosswise

  • Maple syrup, for topping

  1. In a small bowl, combine cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, and salt and mix well. Whisk together cinnamon mixture, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. Pour into shallow container.

  2. Dip bread into egg mixture. Make sure you flip the bread and soak both sides in the egg mixture. You will mostly likely have repeat this step while one batch is frying.

  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Melt butter in skillet and, once melted, add bread to the skillet. Fry slices until golden brown, then flip to cook the other side.

  4. Serve with syrup.

  5. Enjoy!
