  • ½ - ¾ pound good quality steak

  • Salt and pepper

  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil

  • 1 packet instant jajangmyeon noodles, such as Nongshim’s Chapagetti

  • 1 packet instant jjampong noodles, such as Nonshim’s Neoguri

Version 1

  1. Cube the steak into bit-sized pieces. Set aside.

  2. Using a pan with a high rim, add water to the pan, enough to full cover the noodles, and wait till the water begins to boil. Make sure not to put too much water in the pan, as you will be adding the spice packets later and want the spices to be more concentrated in the water.

  3. As you’re waiting for the water to boil, set another pan over medium-high heat. Once the pan is hot, add oil and wait for oil to heat up. Once heated, add the cubed steak. Cook to preferred doneness.

  4. Once the water in the other pan has come to a boil, add in both instant noodles, both veggies packets, and the spicy broth packet from the Neoguri.

  5. Cook for 4 minutes, mixing everything together well. Check the noodles for their doneness. You want them to be al dente because they’ll continue to cook and soak up the liquid until you’re done cooking.

  6. Once the noodles are done, drain off all but ⅓ of a cup of the liquid.

  7. Add the Chapagetti black bean sauce and the oil packets. Mix everything together until everything has been coated evenly with the brown sauce.

  8. Add the steak cubes and mix everything one more time.

  9. Enjoy!

Version 2

  1. Fill a medium pot with water and bring to a boil.

  2. While waiting for the water to boil, pat the steak dry and season on all sides with salt and pepper, to taste.

  3. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. When the skillet is smoking, add the steak and cook for 3-5 minutes, per side. Set aside.

  4. Once the water is boiling, add both types of noodles and cook until just-tender, about 4-5 minutes.

  5. Strain the noodles, reserving 4-5 tablespoons of the water.

  6. Return noodles to the pot over low heat and add all of the Chapagetti seasoning packets, half of the both of the Neoguri season packets, and the reserved noodle water. Stir until well blended. Add more water if you want your noodles creamier, but careful not too over water or it will turn into a sauce.

  7. Thinly slice or cube the steak and add on top of the noodles.

  8. Enjoy!
